Delta State government has issued a stern warning to parents of pupils who are scheduled to write their Primary Six examination today ( Saturday).
It specifically ordered that “parents and guardians are advised to stay away from the examination centres for the period of the examination or face possible arrest and prosecution”.
This was contained in a Special Government Announcement signed by the Director of Public Communication/Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Theresa Oliko.
It reads:
GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
It is hereby announced for the information of the public, particularly Deltans, that the 2025 Cognitive/Placement Examination for Primary Six in the State has been scheduled as follows:
DATE: Saturday, 24th May, 2025
TIME: 7 am
2. The examination will be held simultaneously across the State as candidates are expected at the examination centres by 7am.
Parents, guardians, examination supervisors, examination officers and pupils seating for the examination are advised to desist from all forms of during the examination as anyone caught would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
3. To further emphasize the zero-tolerance posture of the Oborevwori administration on examination malpractice, parents and guardians are advised to stay away from the examination centres for the period of the examination or face possible arrest and prosecution.

In a related development, the Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu has decried the ugly incident captured in a trending video where students were found writing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination at Unity Model School Asaba with torchlight.
Speaking at Uvwie during a monitoring visit across some centers, the Commissioner blamed it on late arrival of examination materials, saying that “It is unacceptable that students are made to wait due to delays in the arrival of exam materials”.
Mrs. Ezewu reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to supporting educational development and conducive environment for learning in the State.
