Labour Party is ready for the coming LG elections in Delta – Ngozi Okolie

“Labour Party (LP) is ready for the forthcoming Local Government elections in Delta as we call on the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to give all the political parties a level playing field by upholding transparency, accountability and fairness”, Hon. Ngozi Okolie has said.

Hon. Ngozi Okolie representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the National Assembly also congratulated the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on his one year in office describing his performance as phenomenon.

He noted that Governor Oborevwori has been able to carry members of other political parties along in addition to giving equal development to all parts of the State.

Okolie used the opportunity to call on the Federal government to execute more projects in the Niger Delta given of the region’s enormous contributions to the nation’s economy.

On deplorable federal roads across the country, the Federal Lawmaker said a state of emergency should be declared on federal roads before embarking on coastal road project, expressing regret that “a lot of lives and valuables have been lost due to bad roads while others have become den of robbers and kidnappers”.

He described the relationship between the three tiers of government as robust and called on Nigerians to be patient with the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu, assuring the people of Aniocha/ Oshimili of more federal presence now that the 2024 budget has become operational.

He stated that “repair work has commenced on the Benin/Asaba expressway; the contractor handling the Ebu/Ubiaja road project will soon be on site”.

Hon Okolie told the journalists that he was putting in his best at ensuring that all contracts awarded and paid for and not executed before he was elected and came on board were currently being executed in line with contractual agreements entered into.

He also did not fail to acknowledge those who attracted projects to the constituency for their efforts promising to put the interest of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili above personal interest at all times.

He gave assurance that repair works in schools and solar street light spreading in communities in Aniocha/Oshimili will kick off in earnest and pointed out that “apart from pursuing Bills and Motions to fast track all round development in my constituency, issues of youth and women empowerment will be vigorously entrenched”, he added.

On issue of criminality, the Lawmaker admonished those aiding and abetting crime and criminality in the constituency to desist or be ready to contend with the Law as peace is a springboard for meaningful development.
