THE Chairman of the newly inaugurated Delta State Sports Commission, Honourable Onoriode Oborevwori says they are going to hit the ground running immediately to ensure the continued success of Delta athletes as the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State comes up in January 2025.
Speaking with newsmen during a reception organized in honor of the new Board, Oborevwori, fondly referred to as ‘The General’ by his close associates, acknowledged the significant responsibilities entrusted to him and his team.
Said he, “I want to use this medium to appreciate His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, for giving me this opportunity to contribute my quota to the history of sports development in our State.
“With our collective efforts, I am confident we will achieve success. As the Governor rightly emphasized, our approach will be one of servant leadership to deliver on our mandate”.
Reflecting on the outstanding achievements of his predecessors, he noted Delta State’s impressive track record in sports not only at the national level but also on the continental and global stage was a thing of joy and promised to sustain it.
Earlier, the Director General of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero, pledged the Commission’s unwavering support for the new Board.
Other Board members, including Sam Sodje, Herrita Ehiabor and Oghale similarly called for a united front among all stakeholders to propel Delta sports to greater heights.
“The united front of all stakeholders is essential in achieving the ambitious goals of the Board and taking Delta sports to unprecedented heights,” they emphasized.
The reception, held at the Squash Club in Asaba, was graced by prominent government officials, renowned sports administrators, family members, friends, and staff of the Commission.
