DELTA State High Court sitting presided over by Justice M.O. Omovie has convicted and sentenced two men, Ojerbo Solomon and Ola Babatunde for killing two family members.
Prosecution led by Mr. E.H. Edema called five witnesses to proof the case beyond all reasonable doubt before the Court sitting at Ibusa, Oshimili North local government area of Delta State, Nigeria.
They There found guilty of murder, armed robbery and rape.
Leading evidence, prosecution told the Court that on the 8th February 2016, the two accused persons while armed with guns, cutlasses, and knives, broke into the house of the victims, raped the victims and thereafter callously slit their throats.
According to Prosecution, one of the victims, Mr Praise Sunday fortunately survived the attack but his mother and sister died from the attack.
“After committing the attack, the two escaped with a motorcycle belonging to one of the victims to Ewohimi in Edo State from where they were later apprehended by the Police following discret investigation”, stated the Prosecution.
Both gave evidence in defence, denying the allegations but called no single witness.
Delivering judgment, Justice Omovie stated that after carefully evaluating the evidence presented at the trial, he came to the conclusion that the Prosecution had proved the case against the two Defendants beyond reasonable doubt.
The Judge accordingly convicted both of them as charged and sentenced to death by hanging.
