Tribunal upholds Ned Nwoko’s victory….. “I won overwhelmingly – NWOKO
The victory of Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North in National Assembly who ran under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has been affirmed by the State and National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba as the lawful winner of the February 25 Delta North senatorial election.
Delivering judgment the three-man tribunal, led by Justice Cathrine Ogunsola, dismissed the petition filed by Mr Ken Kanmma of the Labour Party, LP for lack of merit.
The Labour Party candidate,Kanmma, through his counsel, had asked the tribunal to declare null and void the election of Senator Nwoko for alleged non compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 and declare him (Kanmma) winner of the election.
In the unanimous judgment, the Tribunal held that the petitioner failed woefully to prove his case against the election of Senator Nwoko as he was unable to tender before the tribunal any relevant document to prove a case of non compliance as alleged in his petition.
Senator Nwoko told The Town Hall Media in a brief chat that “I was overwhelmingly elected by the people of Delta North. They love me and know my pedigree quite well. This victory at the tribunal is the beauty of democracy.
“I am poised to continue to bring positive changes to my dear people of Delta North, Anioma nation. I did it before as House member and would continue to be there for them”, he stated.
