Whilst the controversial Circular on dress code for Civil Servants in Delta State went viral, trailed with mixed feelings, Delta State government has continued to keep quiet.
However a dramatic turn of event is playing out as the the Permanent Secretary (PS) Maxwell Awuse in the office of the Head of Service has thrown in the towel 48 hours after the Circular was released to the public.
The Townhall can report that there was a last minute attempt to withdraw the Circular before it finally went viral.
Surprisingly, no official comment has since been made either by the Head of Service, the State Commissioner for Information or the the Governor’s spokesman, Sir Festus Ahon despite all the muds thrown at the governor and his administration for what many described as obnoxious including the State NLC leadership.
Rather, the Delta State Head of Service (HoS), Dr. (Mrs) M. Oseji, has congratulated Mr. Maxwell Awuse on his retirement from the State Civil Service.
Awuse paid her a courtesy visit to formally announce his disengagement from service.
She commended the retiring Permanent Secretary for his dedication, humility throughout his career, describing him as a committed public servant who contributed significantly to repositioning the Civil Service.
The HoS further noted his role in ensuring the successful implementation of the 20 Activities designed to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.
While praying for God’s continued protection, guidance, and a prosperous post-retirement life, Dr. Oseji encouraged him to remain a shining example of integrity and service.
On his part, Awuse expressed gratitude to God for enabling him to fulfil his career aspirations and thanked Governor Oborevwori and the Head of Service for giving him the opportunity to serve Delta State.
Recounting his civil service journey, he noted that he joined as a Personnel Officer II in 1997 and subsequently served in various ministries, including Information, Health, Oil and Gas, the Office of the Deputy Governor, and finally the Office of the Head of Service.
