Teachers protest killing of colleague flogged to death in Delta, seek protection from Government

Grieving Secondary School teachers in Ika South and Ika North East Local Government areas of Delta State have staged a peaceful protest against the killing of their colleague, Onyeisi Sunday Ufah by a parent who allegedly flogged him to death.

Fresh facts have emerged to the effect that the parent who allegedly flogged Ufah to death identified as one Nweke Nnajiofor, also known as, Walter, is a butcher and hails from Enugu State.

The deceased teacher, Ufah was until his death was attached to Alihame Mixed Secondary School, Alihame, Agbor.

He met his untimely death on Wednesday, October 18 at the school compound when the accused presently in Police custody stormed the school to retaliate the punishment meted to his son, one of the students who scaled the school fence to go and drink some palm wine stolen from an old man nearby.

Protesting teachers marched peacefully on the streets of Agbor crying for justice for the killed teacher as well as for their own protection by the government from the hands of errant students and their parents who frequently attack them (teachers).

Addressing journalists during the protest, the NUT Chairman in Ika South, Comrade Isaac Arimokwu said that his members were aggrieved over the sudden death of their dear colleague, Ufah, who was sent to early grave by Mr Nweke Nnajiofor.

Arimokwu described the late Ufah as a committed member of NUT and one of the best Physics teachers in the local government and called on government to ensure that justice was achieved for Ufah.
