Former Member of the House of Representatives and a chieftain of the All Progressives Party, APC, Dr Cairo Ojougboh has called on all the political parties in the country to join hands with Mr. President as his leadership is poised to drive Nigeria to the expected place of El Dorado.
Ojougboh who is also the Director General, Coalition for Peace and Unity in a chat with The Town Hall Media said ” on behalf of Coalition for Peace and Unity and the entire APC members in the South South, I congratulate the President, His Excellency, Bola Tinubu for the Supreme Court judgment today, Thursday.
“The apex Court has spoken. Therefore, I call on all parties, whether PDP, Labour, all parties to join hands with the President to build a more prosperous nation everybody can be proud of.
“I am also calling on Mr. President to open the door for all, carry everybody along.There is certainly no doubt that he has plotted his graph rightly and on course to taking the country to El Dorado we are waiting for.
“I am an ambassador of peace. We need peace let us all join hands with him (Tinubu) the Supreme Court has finally affirmed his victory confirming the mandate of the electorate; we can’t have two Presidents at the same time, he is our President let us support him to succeed.
“I’m very sure his frontal attack on the economy will very soon yield results and address the economic bottlenecks being experienced temporary. Nigeria and Nigerians will certainly see light at the end of the tunnel, believe me”, he stated.
Recall that Ojougboh sometime ago disclosed how he risked his life to ensure that Tinubu won the presidential election in Delta State while calling on the national leadership of the party to urgently intervene over the factionalisation of the party in the Delta.
He spoke as a guest at Arise Television program, ‘Morning ‘Show’.
Said he, “I use this opportunity to appeal to the national (APC) because the earlier we rebuild the APC in Delta the better for everybody because in the last 4 years, APC was not on ground; was flying in the air. It refused to perch or to land to prosecute elections.We were not given that opportunity.
The only thing we were allowed to do was to make sure that we defended the presidential election, otherwise, the result we got could have been worse.
We ensured that the APC would not be disenchanfrised because the people in APC who were only interested in their own personal result.But we the grassroot of the APC said No, that we would work for Mr. President and we did our best and the 90,000 votes we got for Mr. President, I tell you If not for our efforts at the risk of our lives maybe we couldn’t have gotten about 5,000 or 6,000 votes for Mr. President”.
Asked about the rift between his faction and that of the former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Ojougboh said, “there are two main factions of APC in Delta State.The two are in court to determine which faction is the authentic because my own faction, we are mainly the grassroot and we are the ones loved by the people.The other group, they the bourgeois They fly up that is the way it is.Of course, the Court has awarded me N5 million against them (Omo Agege faction) for bringing many issues and barred them for harassing me any further because I am a soldier of truth.If you take it to the Supreme Court”, he went on, “I will still get judgment (he laughed heartily). As far as I am concerned I have no issue with Omo Agege. I wish him well”.
On the general assessment of President Bola Tinubu on his 100 days in office, Ojougboh told Nigerians that they are in safe hands as the President is doing his best to bring the much needed succour to the plight of the citizens.
Speaking specifically on issue of subsidy, he said, “the President loves the people, he is a listening President. I am not in his cabinet, I am not in his government but looking from outside into the room (Aso Rock) I know that the President is working very very hard to see that these issues are addressed and I trust he will come a profound result”, Ojougboh added.
