The Supreme Court of Nigeria said the fire incident that occurred this (Monday) morning was not as a result of any invasion by hoodlums or an ulterior motive because of the pending Presidential election petition before it.
The Registrar of the Supreme Court, who doubles as the spokesman of the apex Court, Festus Akande made this clarification when he appeared on Arise Television.
According to him,”there
is no single connection and it will not affect anything in the court. It did not come under an invasion from hoodlums.
Preliminary investigation, he went on “showed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
Staff were already in the office and it happened sometime around 7.30 to 8.00 a.m. only one chamber was affected and not two three or five affected as in the social media”, said the CBN spokesman.
He further said that staff quickly mobilsied and used fire extinguishers to attack the fire before help cam from outside fire services.
