The Principal of Owa-Oyibo Secondary School at Owa-Oyibo in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs. Margret Umeri has raised alarm over the spate of vandalization.
She stated this when members of Owa-Oyibo Youth Development Council (OYDC), led by Comrade Ejime Igwe visited the school.
According to the principal, “we have experienced five cases of burglary and stealing of school property within a period of one month.
“The items made away with include 51 ceiling fans, packets of biro, textbooks and other valuables.
”They made attempt to break into the Lab, but we later discovered after taking inventory that nothing was stolen there. They came last week and chased our security men away”, the principal further stated.
Following the sad development she said that the school authority intimated the community who in turn mobilized the vigilante group.
“I want to appreciate the vigilante group, led by Engr. Amos Agbobu for their good work and and I still want to appeal to them to always find time to visit us to secure the school,” she pleaded.
The Vice Principal of the school, Pastor Chuks Oshagwu, took the group round the school premises to ascertain the level of vandalisation and theft by the hoodlums.
The group thereafter proceeded to the office of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Owa-Oyibu to incident the matter for further investigation.
