Schools in Delta resume Monday, January 6

Delta State Government has directed all private and public primary and secondary schools across the State to resume for the second term academic activities on Monday, January 6, 2025.

A statement from the Permanent Secretary in charge of Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr Augustine Oghoro implored teachers in the State to redouble their commitment towards improving the standard of the education system.

The statement added that classes would commence immediately on Monday, January 6, after the teachers had guided the learners and students in cleaning their classrooms.

It urged parents and guardians to ensure adequate preparation of their children and wards for the school resumption.

According to the statement, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu and her counterpart overseeing the Ministry of Primary Education would separately lead officials of the two Ministries to monitor the level of compliance of teachers learners and students resumption.

The statement informed all school heads and teachers to ensure that they comply with the directive, noting that the State government would not tolerate any absenteeism from them as anyone found to be absent from school without genuine reasons or was not granted permission by the school head would be punished.

It, however, congratulated teachers and the students/learners for the grace to see yet another brand new year, 2025 .
