Sacked DELSU staff cries to Delta House of Assembly for reinstatement

A Staff of the Department of Accounting, Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Nigeria, Dr Abel Ideh has sent a petition to the Delta State House of Assembly over alleged “unlawful” sack.

The aggrieved sacked DELSU staff passed the petition through the Member representing Ethiope East constituency in the State Assembly who is also the Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowowo.

The petition was formally presented during Tuesday’s plenary by Akpowowo on behalf of the petitioner who is one of his constituents.

The petitioner, Dr Abel Ideh is alleging that his appointment was wrongly terminated over Delta State University Cooperative Society unresolved issue.

He is therefore praying the State Assembly to intervene and:

*To resolve issues surrounding the unlawful termination of his appointment and be reinstated to his duty post at the Delta State University Abraka.

*To order the Delta University Cooperative Society to put their Books in order.

Also, during the Tuesday sitting, the Delta State Prevention and Prohibition of Destruction and Vandalization of Public Property and Public Assets Bill 2024 scaled through its First Reading.

The Bill which has Chief James Augoye representing Okpe constituency as chief sponsor along with 19 others is seeking for enactment of a Law to provide for the prevention and prohibition of destruction and vandalization of public property and other public assets in Delta State.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor announced the constitution of a Seven-man Special Committee on Nutrition and Food Security in the State.

The Committee has the Chief Whip of the House and Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Perkins Umukoro as Chairman with the Member representing Isoko South 2 State constituency, Ferguson Onwo as Deputy Chairman.

Other Members include Marylyn Okowa-Daramola, (Ika North East); Bridget Anyafulu (Oshimili South); Festus Utuama (Ughelli South); (Pereotu Oloye (Burutu 2) and Benson Obire (Warri South 2) as members, while Abigail Eseadi would serve as Secretary.
