… as another APC stalwart blasts the Governor for romancing with Tinubu as well allegedly playing ‘double standard’ politics
IN a rather shocking development, the Member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, under APC ticket, Hon. (Rev) Francis Ejiroghene Waive has called on all members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State to queue behind the incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of PDP as their sole gubernatorial candidate, come 2027.
Speaking with newsmen, Waive said “It will be impossible for any other candidate to beat Governor Sheriff come 2027; his coming to APC is value addition and that this will bring an immediate end to the crisis engulfing the party in the State.
“I can see Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu coasting to victory on the APC ticket. This synergy is what APC Delta needs at this moment. Not only will this bring peace to the party, it will make victory very certain.
“I want victory for my party and for President Tinubu. This is the way to go. Moreover the rotation of the Governorship between the three Senatorial Districts favors Governor Sheriff who has only one term left. I call on all Deltans to support this move as it will further unite us as a people”, he stated.
Continuing, the Lawmaker emphasized that Governor Oborevwori’s strong rapport with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu demonstrates his deep understanding of governance as well as lauding the governor’s performance, saying, “Governor Sheriff has shocked every Deltan with his people-oriented programmes and quality projects.

However, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Hon. Chief Evance Ochuko Ivwurie accused the governor of allegedly being hypocritical in his romance with President Bola Tinubu.
Chief Ivwurie was a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly and also former Commissioner for Special Duties.

Said he, “More concerning is for the Governor Oborevwori’s blatant hypocrisy in criticizing President Tinubu while simultaneously maneuvering to join the President’s party in Abuja. This display of political duplicity and opportunism not only undermines his party’s values but also betrays the trust of his constituents and party members. If he’s truly committed to the PDP, why is he seeking to join the All Progressives Congress APC.
“The implications of the Governor’s opposition to the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers are particularly troubling given the critical security situation in Rivers State, which poses an existential threat to the economy and livelihoods of Nigerians, particularly Deltans. Delta State’s reliance on FAAC allocation for its revenue, heavily dependent on oil production, makes it imperative to support the President’s efforts to address the crisis.
“The Governor’s consistent refusal to support President Tinubu’s efforts, particularly in his case to restore stability and ensure good governance in Rivers State”, he went on, “is a poor representation of Delta State. His reckless actions will only perpetuate chaos, crisis, and instability in Rivers State.
“The people of Delta State deserves quality and better leadership, one that prioritizes their welfare and well-being over partisan interests. The Governor’s actions will not be forgotten soon, and the people of Delta State will hold him accountable…”
