One Rivers Initiative stands by Gov Fubara, supports Chief EK Clark’s call on IG to get Nysome Wike arrested immediately

By Austin Ogwuda

A Pan Rivers group, known as One Rivers Initiative (ORI) says it is totally in support of the call made by Chief EK Clark that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun should arrest Nyesom Wike for his threat to national security with his reckless statements.

The group also berated Wike for his audacity and disrespect in maligning an accomplished Elder statesman, Chief EK Clark through his surrogate, Chidi Lloyd.

In a statement signed by its Director, Media & Publicity, Victor Burubo titled, ‘ON CHIEF CLARK: WIKE AND HIS HANGER’S ON RIDE A TIGER’, obtained by The Townhall reads:

“The One Rivers Initiative (ORI) notes with a sense of outrage the attempts by former governor of Rivers State and current FCT Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike to malign the person of Chief Edwin Clark through Mr. Chidi Lloyd, one of his brigands, goon and protégé.

“For those who may not know, Chidi Lloyd is one of the recently removed Local Government Chairmen in Rivers State. A one time proponent of “Amaechi Lead, We Follow” in Rivers State. An anywhere “belle face”, fair-weather politician who later dumped Rotimi Ameachi for Nyesom Wike.

“This Op-Ed is not about Chidi Lloyd a mere surrogate used to carry out Wike’s insults and attack against the Chieftain Dr. Edwin Clark, an accomplished statesman.

“Chief Clark’s condemnation of Wike’s threat to “export” terror, fire, brimstones and instability to states to undermine the rule of governors who support the governor of Rivers state Siminialayi Fubara, in the political imbroglio between Wike and the governor is of deep concern to us because of the inherent threat to peace and stability in those states.

“The ORI”, the statement went on, “condemn this irreverent and crude insults directed at the person of Chief E.K Clark. No sane person with solid African parentage will resort to such rude and reckless verbal attacks on a man like Chief E.K Clark, ninety-six years old, who has served Nigeria creditably for many decades.

“Let the public take note that the One Rivers Initiative (ORI) supports the call made by Chief Clark that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun should arrest Nyesom Wike for his threat to national security with his reckless statements.

“Rivers people are curious, wanting to know which political relevance Wike has that is making him talk down on and tower above Chief Edwin Clark and prominent others in Rivers State and South South in the estimation of Mr. President. We concede that Mr. Wike is a master disrupter of elections. People rig elections with the support of the masses. The same people Wike daily insults and alienate with his uncouth and offensive attitude in Rivers State.

“It will be politically expedient for President Tinubu to know that Wike has disrupted the politics of Rivers state to the extent that he is now seen as a leprous personality on the death throes, hanging onto the last breath of survival by rabble rousing across the state to control a non-existent ‘structure’.

“It will also be good to ask for how long will Mr President tolerate Wike and indeed be seen to offer tacit support to Wike’s rascality while perpetrating such crude disrespect and assault on a national icon like Chief E.K Clark for political gain. We are Africans and in Africa “respect for elders begets respect to self”.

“For too long Wike and his cohorts took the entire River treasury as their goldmine. The offense of Fubara seems to be that he demanded reward for commensurate work, saying that the days “baboons nor work, but baboons wan chop” are over.

“The ORI stands with Fubara all the way and will not fold our hands for parasite like Wike to destroy our commonwealth.

“We insist that enough is enough!!!

Victor Burubo,
Director, Media and Publicity.
