The intensification of operation recover all illegal arms from unauthorized persons and criminals is paying off as men of the Delta State Police command have recovered illegal arms from a Patent Medicine shop.
The recovery took place last Saturday at Isiokolo, Ethiope east local government area of Delta State.
According to the Delta State Police command’s spokesman Bright Edafe a deputy Superintendent of Police in a press statement today, Monday, “on 7/10/2023, at about 1320hours, operatives of the command Rapid Response Squad acting a credible information stormed Oviorie community Isiokolo Ethiope East LGA Delta state where one Ebireri Morisson ‘m’ aged 40yrs of the same community was arrested at his drug patent shop.
“Upon searching the premises, one locally fabricated short gun, and one live cartridge were recovered. The suspect is in custody and the investigation in progress”.
Edafe also said that following “concerted efforts to rid the State of illicit firearms led to the arrest of two suspects in Asaba on Wednesday along Cable Road, Asaba”.
According to him, the suspects were on a motorcycle and upon sighting the patrol team they hastily jumped down from the moving motorcycle and took to their hills. “The suspects were carrying a handbag, when the bag was searched one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, two 9mm live ammunition, one locally made single barrel shotgun, and one live cartridge were recovered”, said the Police spokesman.
