Member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Hon. Ehiatake Ibori-Suenu has lamented the Sunday calamity that claimed several lives following tanker explosion.
The unfortunate incident happened within the Constituency she represents.
The Federal lawmaker who is the daughter of the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori in a condolence message called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to speedily rehabilitate Benin-Warri Express Road as it has become a death trap.
While condoling with the families of the victims, Ibori-Suenu, noted with sadness, that the incident happened at a time when many families, particularly low income earners and vulnerable Nigerians were experiencing the pains of the current economic hardships in the country.
She promised to use her legislative platform to continue to push for the timely rehabilitation of the road while advising citizens to always avoid rushing to the scene of accident, involving petroleum tanker vehicles, so as to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and property.
Special Duties Commissioner, Ethiope West Council Chair condole too
In a related development the Delta State Commissioner for Bureau for Special Duties, Hon Terry Etacherure and the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Hon Oghenedoro Owoso have expressed sadness over the loss of lives at the fire incident that took place at Koko Junction, Ugbenu-Oghara along the Benin-Warri, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday.
The Commissioner and the Council Chairman who visited the scene with their respective teams lamented over the disaster caused by the fire largely blamed on the bad shape of the road.
They condoled families of victims who lost their lives in the incident, advising others to learn from what had happened and to always stay away from any scene where there was an accident involving truck with fuel.
Commissioner for Special Duties told newsmen that he was at the scene to ascertain the level of damage and to sympathize with the family of the victims noted that he was mandated by the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who was sad with the news of the disaster.
The Commissioner said that he came with the SEMA ( State Emergency Management Agency) fire service crew sent by the governor from Asaba, saying that the governor of Delta State was pained with the terrible disaster.
