… his Owa Oyibu country home invaded, wife’s shop too
PRINCE Victor Garuba Efeizomor, son of the Obi of Owa kingdom/the immediate past Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Emmanuel Efeizomor II has raised alarm over an alleged threat to his life.
Prince Efeizomor, a renowned Journalist, currently a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori while narrating his ordeal on Saturday night, said, “Of late, I received several threat messages from known and unknown persons.
“And the threat was made good when thieves broke into my country home in Owa Oyibu in Ika North East local government area at the weekend and vandalized my properties”.
Continuing, he said the vandals scaled the parameter fence to gain entry into the premises in the wee hours of the night through the roof when no one was around.
According to him, they vandalised and made away with several household items, including television set, cooking utensils, gas cylinder, jewelries other personal effects worth about N5m (five million naira).
Efeizomor who said the attack appeared to be coordinated, “also saw the vandalization of his wife’s business premises in Owa Ekei, where the they attempted to set the building on fire after they vandalized the aluminum windows and roof.
“The Police and the local vigilantes have launched an investigation into the matter and are on the trail of the perpetrators”, he added.
It will be recalled that Prince Efeizomor, recently addressed a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Asaba, Delta State capital where he debunked allegations absolving the Owa palace of any involvement in land grabbing accusations heaped against it.
The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor had while enjoining the aggrieved parties to sheath their swords, assured that the State government would get to the root of the matter.
The Townhall gathered that the vexed issue is a subject of litigation in the law court.
Efforts to reach the Delta State police command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, a Superintendent of Police SP for comment were unsuccessful due to poor network as at the time of filing the report.
