Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of Nigeria’s Ex Deputy Senate President, Sen. Prof. Ike Ekweremadu has returned to Nigeria after serving out her prison term in the United Kingdom.
She is presently in Abuja, according to a close family source.
Recall that in 2023, UK Court jailed the 63-year-old former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu to 9 years and eight months while his 56 year-old wife, Beatrice, was sentenced to 4 years and six months for trafficking a street trader from Lagos to the United Kingdom to illegally harvest his kidney for a transplant for their seriously ill daughter.
Similarly, a 51-year-old Nigerian Medical Doctor, Obinna Obeta, described by Prosecutors as a middleman was also jailed for 10 years.

Three of them were all convicted in March 2023 of conspiring to arrange the travel of a man in order to harvest his organs.
Prosecutors said the couple had brought the man to the UK with the offer of a few thousand pounds for his organ and the promise of work in the UK.
The case came to light when the man, who had made a living in Lagos selling telephone parts in a market, went to Police saying he had been trafficked and someone was trying to harvest his kidney.
The proposed transplant did not go ahead as a Consultant at London’s Royal Free Hospital became suspicious about the circumstances surrounding the proposed donor considering his age.
Sonia Ekweremadu, the intended recipient of the organ and who has a serious and deteriorating kidney condition requiring dialysis, was exernorated and found not guilty.
Meanwhile, Beatrice Ekweremadu has returned back to Nigeria after serving out her prison term and presently in Abuja as at Wednesday morning.
An anonymous source who is a close political associate of the Ekweremadus and who spoke to a PACESETTER Correspondent on phone said, “I can confirm to you that the good news you heard about Madam’s (Beatrice Ekweremadu) return is true”.
