Ondo under siege again as unknown gunmen kidnap 25 Church Members

Report from Akure, Ondo State capital South West region Nigeria indicates that over 25 members of Christ Apostolic Church, CAC located in Oke Igan, Akure have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The Town Hall Media gathered that they were abducted on Friday late evening while traveling to Ifon in Ose local government council area of the State for a burial ceremony of one of the members of the Church.

Details of the kidnap were still sketchy but it was confirmed that the kidnapped Church members were mainly Choristers (choir group).

The bus conveying them was said to have been abandoned on the highway with nobody inside leading to the suspicion.

Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Odunlami Funmi did confirm the incident but was not forthcoming with details.

According to her, “we (Police) have been informed that a church bus with the inscription CAC was abandoned around Elegbeka area and there are suspicions that the passengers in the vehicle were kidnapped.

“The Police Anti kidnapping squad and other tactical teams have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims and arrest all involved in the crime”, said the Ondo Police command’s spokesperson.
