By our Reporter

The Delta State Government has refuted claims that Olodu community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the State has been granted autonomous status, describing the information as misleading.

A statement issued by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the government clarified that while a Memo seeking autonomy for Olodu was listed for discussion at the maiden 2025 meeting of the State Executive Council, it was stepped down on the directive of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori before proceedings commenced.

The government urged the public to disregard any publication suggesting that autonomy had been granted to the community, emphasizing that no such decision had been made.

Mr. Aniagwu reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to due process in handling matters of community autonomy and governance in the state.
