OKUAMA community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State, Nigeria which is fast being resettled is gripped with fresh tension following the arrest of President General of the Community Prof. Arthur Ekpekpo, who was declared wanted by the Nigerian military along with others.
Prof. Ekpekpo, a Lecturer with the Delta State University, (DELSU), Abraka was reportedly arrested on Sunday in Sapele by some men in Military uniform.
Similarly, four other persons, including two prominent Chiefs of the community were equally arrested in a sting operation carried out by security men in mufti in the early hours of Monday.
According to reports, Chief Belvis Adogbo and Chief Dennis Akugbaye were reportedly picked up at different locations in the Ughelli and Udu areas of the State with the assistance of an indigene, serving as a guide to the security men who came for the operations.
Spokespersons of the Military and the Department of State Security, DSS were yet to make any official comments over the said operations as at the time of this report.
Already, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright has denied the Command’s involvement while responding to text message sent to him by The Story.
