Ogbueshi Ndozi Onyia goes home this week

The family of Obi J. I. G. Onyia has formally announced the death of Ogbueshi Ndozikanno Henry Onyia which occurred on the 13th of February 2025.

According to a press release signed by Chief Ejiofor P. Onyia on behalf of the family, the funeral begins on the 8th of May with Service of Songs at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, Onyeobi Way, Cable Point, Asaba, while the next day, May 9th, the Funeral Service will take place at the same Church venue followed by interment at his residence.

Reception takes place at All Saints Anglican Church Premises at Cable Point, Asaba.

The traditional burial ceremonies commence with Egwu Ota on the 10th of May, according to the release.

It further stated that “Ndozi, as was popularly known was a man of many parts.

He was our father’s driver while still in Secondary School driving him to many cities for political meetings including to Lagos to attend Parliament during the First Republic.

There, he met many First Republic politicians who ostensibly influenced his interest in politics.

“He joined political movements after returning from England. He was a member of NPN, Nwata Gbolu Okei, PF, SDP, PDM and most recently a founding member of PDP where he served in several Committees:-

(1) He was in the team that conducted the Primary congress in Kano that produced Dr. Kwankwaso as the Governorship candidate and Dr. Ganduje as his Deputy.

(2) A member of the committee that conducted the primary congress in Akwa Ibom that produced Chief Akpabio, present Senate President as the Governorship candidate for Akwa Ibom.

(3) He was a member of the all powerful National Disciplinary Committee of the Party.

“He is survived by wife, Children, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins”, the release added.
