MEN of the Delta State Police command have arrested a Nurse attached to a Pharmacy shop at Okpanam, Oshimili North local government area of Delta State, Nigeria for selling hard drugs to customers at a nearby hotel.
Incidentally, both the Pharmacy shop and the hotel facility are adjacent the vicinity where the Operatives National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Delta State killed a 2-year-old toddler, Ivan Omhonria via stray bullet on July 13, 2023 during an ill-fated raid.
That area is notorious as flashpoint for drug peddling well known to both the Police, NDLEA, other security agencies as well as members of the public who see the peddlers brazenly engaged openly in the illegal business.
The arrest, according to a press release from the Delta State Public Relations Officer PPRO Bright Edafe took place on Monday this week.
The Release obtained by The Townhall, Wednesday, reads:
“Following an intensified surveillance conducted by the State Intelligence Department SID on 29/12/2025 (Monday) concerning the indiscriminate display and sale of prohibited drugs in a hotel located at Victoria junction, Okpanam road, one Isu Emmanuel, male, claiming to be a Nurse at Guard Health Pharmacy Okpanam, was arrested.
“The said Isu Emmanuel was reputed for the sales and distribution of controlled drugs without doctors’ prescriptions to members of the public.
“During the operation, twenty-eight (28) sachets of tramadol, 100mm sixteen (16) satchets of Swindol, three (3) bottles of Barcadine containing codeine syrup and other prohibited and controlled drugs were recovered.
“The suspect is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing”, it added.
