Labour Party chairmanship candidate for Aniocha North Local Government, Dr. Augustine Ojogbo says he would engage in forest regeneration as part of his policy trust to advance agricultural development of the local government area.
Ojogbo disclosed this when he visited the Obi of Issele-Azagba, Obi Timothy Jideuwa Tobechukwu Ijeh III, Obi of Ukwu-Nzu, Agbogidi Obi Christopher Okafor Ogoh I and Obi of Ezi, Obi Mohanye, in continuation of his visits to traditional rulers in the local government to seek royal blessings.
The Labour Party chairman said the land for the forest regeneration would be acquired on donation from the various communities, noting that under the forest regeneration programme, economic trees and medicinal plants would be planted and some animals introduced.
According to him, the forest would be protected against indiscriminate bush burning and poaching of animals in it.
“Aagriculture would receive a boost under his administration as Demonstration Farms would be established with young school leavers trained to acquire skills and empowered with soft loans.
“If elected, I will ensure that the people of the local government enjoy full dividend of democracy through my five-point AWELE agenda of Agriculture development, Wealth creation, Education rebirth, Livelihood enhancement and Ethical rejuvenation.
He explained that under security arrangement, he would ensure a centrally co-ordinated vigilante groups, abolish levies in primary schools, identify fully with the culture and tradition of the various communities, work with the monarchs and ensure conducive environment of their places, provide solar lights at the palaces, address erosion problem in the area and establish Boys’ Scouts platoon in each community for ethical re-orientation.
Dr. Ojogbo who also visited Chief Dumbili Odor at Onicha-Olona, affirmed that he would change the development narrative in the administration of Aniocha North through his well focused blue print anchored on five-point accelerated development.
In their responses, the traditional rulers decried the poor development facing the local government and prayed for Dr. Ojogbo’s success and guidance as he continues in his campaign to actualize his aspiration.
