THE management of Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State, Nigeria, has ordered the immediate suspension of a 200 level student, Abdullahi Juli Mansur for the open demonstration of love to a fellow student on the campus, which it described as “immoral”.
Abdullahi Juli Mansur of the Department of Computer Science suspension was announced via a circular issued with Ref. No. AUS/REG/54 dated 14th May, 2024 after a viral video showed a moment he displayed his affection to a female schoolmate on campus.
According to Sani A. Usman, a Deputy Registrar who signed it a Disciplinary Committee has also been constituted to further examine the development. The suspension is till further notice.
“This is to intimate you that Abdullahi Juli Mansur a student of Department of Computer Science, with registration no. AUS/SCC/COM/22/1018 was suspended for displaying improper behaviour on campus,” the circular stated.
Recall that the suspended student was seen on a short video clip that went viral on social media when he attempted to extend a red bouquet to a female student in the school premises.
Although the supposed admirer did not accept the offer of the “lover boy” in public, the mild drama attracted the attention of other students who lit up the atmosphere with cheers.
Barely 24 hours after the video clip occupied cyberspace, the management of the private University issued a notice of suspension of the “lover boy” for constituting what they believed was an immoral act on campus.
