INSECURITY:  Be on red alert, report suspicious movements promptly, Ugoani of Okpanam tells residents

By Odih Christian Udoka

The Ugoani of Okpanam, His Royal Majesty (Dr) Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu has issued a strong directive to all residents of Okpanam to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement, activity, or persons within the community in the interest of collective security and peace.

According to him,  “The safety of Okpanam remains a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of every indigene and resident”.

He noted that security agencies and community vigilante groups cannot work effectively without timely and accurate information from the people.

“Everyone should to be alert, observant, and proactive in safeguarding the community.

“Silence in the face of suspicious activities poses a serious threat to peace and development. Criminals often thrive where people look the other way;  Okpanam must not give room to lawlessness or insecurity.

“I therefore call on youths, elders, women, landlords, and traders to see themselves as the first line of defense in protecting lives and property.

“Reports made in good faith”, he went on, “will be treated with utmost confidentiality and seriousness by the appropriate authorities. Residents are encouraged not to take laws into their own hands but to promptly alert community leaders, palace authorities, or security agencies whenever they notice anything unusual.

“See something, say something.”

This simple but powerful message slogan should guide daily life in Okpanam.

“By speaking up and acting responsibly, the community can prevent crime before it happens and maintain the peace Okpanam is known for”,  the monarch counselled.
