Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba organised a golf tournament in honour of its four times Captain, Hon. Daniel Mayuku on his birth anniversary.
The tournament saw Chief Austine Modogwu emerging the winner after driving in 77 Nett to claim the top prize beating Ishmael Khalil and Gibson Lee to second and third place.
Rita Atuzor swung in 72 Nett in the Ladies Category to beat Igho Ugbegu and Preye Obuaya to second and third place with Silver Oforgu firing in 78 Nett to claim the Veterans Men prize. Mrs. Hetty Egbai rolled in 85 Nett to collect the Veteran Ladies prize.
Chief Patrick Ukah fired in 92 Gross to pick the Best Gross Men with Rita Izoje swinging 91 Gross to collect the Best Gross Ladies Category, just as Gibson Lee hit the Longest Drive in the Men’s Category and Rita Atuzor collected the Longest Drive Ladies in Hole 18.
Mayuku was eulogised by the members who described him as being instrumental to the building of the Club House, redesign of the Golf Course as well as making the Club the destination for golfers from within and outside the country.
His junior brother, Mr. Emmanuel Mayuku who represented him thanked the members for the honour, noting that “this club remains close to his heart as he is always ready to give his widows mite whenever called upon”.the public good.
The special Golf Kitty featured presentation of prizes to the winners and cutting of the birthday cake with members of Mayuku’s family representing him.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had earlier in a congratulatory message signed on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary CPS, Sir Festus Ahon said “on behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta, I felicitate with a great son of Delta, Hon. Daniel Omayone Mayuku, a man we are all proud of, on the occasion of his 56th birth anniversary.”
As a man of prodigious intellect, Mayuku has shown immense capacity and dexterity in lawmaking, legislative advocacy and proficiency in building inter-tribal alliances when he represented the people of Warri-South West for 16 years in the State House of Assembly.”
As Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, he was exceptionally committed to the course of fiscal discipline and appropriate funding of projects to ensure prompt execution”.
