I am about to weed out layabout Commissioners out of my cabinet, Gov Oborevwori declares

By Austin Ogwuda

…. says he has already informed one of the Commissioners penciled down for sackĀ

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori had made clear that he has no room for layabout Commissioners saying that he is already compiling the names of those to be affected.

He made it clear that the coming shake up is targeted at this set of under preforming Commissioners.

Speaking during the inauguration of eight newly built duplexes at the Commissioners’ Quarters in Asaba today (Monday) the governor said, “You know there are a lot of rumours saying the Governor wants to dissolve the Exco. These people haven’t even heard from me. This just shows that people like too much talk.

“If you are not performing, we will drop you and that will not affect other people. If you are performing, you will stay. Like now, two or three people are not performing. I told one of them today at the Chapel, you are not doing well”,Ā  he added.

“As a Commissioner, we don’t see you. You talk, carry your memo, and look for the Governor, because the Governor will not come looking for you. There are others who are seeking me out; you have to bring energy and initiative into your ministry.

“If there is a problem in any ministry”, he went on, “hold the Commissioner responsible. Any ministry that is doing very well shows that the Commissioner is doing very well”.

Responding shortly after the commissioning, the Dean of Commissioners who is also the Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, thanked Governor Oborevwori for approving the construction of the new residential quarters and appealed for the renovation of the 22 old quarters.

….You remain the leader of APC in Delta, Sobotie tells Gov OborevworiĀ

In another development, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Omeni SobotieĀ  also led members of the State Working Committee of the Party on a visit to the Governor at Government House to pledge their solidarity, reiterating that the Governor is the leader of the APC in the entire State.

Said Sobotie, “If the Governor, as the leader of the Party tells everyone to queue behind him, who is going to question that? Who would act contrary to that?

ā€œWe came to reaffirm our support and pledge our solidarity with the Governor of the state, who is the leader of the APC in Delta”, he stated while urging Deltans to continue supporting the policies and programmes of the Oborevwori’s administration.
