By Austin Ogwuda

IN a bid to protect inheritance for unborn children in Asaba community, the Asagba-in-Council which is the highest ruling body has passed a resolution stipulating banishment for any indigene found selling lands outrightly.

The Asagba-in-Council, however, resolved that while outright sale is prohibited, there is 65-year leasehold in place.

This latest development was disclosed by the Asagba of Asaba in his official Facebook handle.

His words, “Asaba Land is not my land, it belongs to the people. But it is my duty to protect our unborn children. They must have where to call home. Consequently, any Asaba son who sells land outrightly with disregard to the lease-hold of 65 years resolution of the Asagba-in-Council will be banished.

“The Governor has visited me on this issue, the immediate past governor, Sen. Okowa has also visited me on this matter and I explained the situation to them”.
