The President General of Urhobo Rebirth Congress , a k a ( Udu re’ Urhobo) Comrade Stephen Ogheneochuko has advised Deltans to support the government of Rt Hon. elder Sheriff Oborevwori so that Delta State will continue to be a leading state in the country.
Comrade Ogheneochuko who addressed journalists in Warri Delta State, said a tree can not make a forest, thus the governor needed the support and prayers of all to achieve success at the end of his tenure for the good of all.
He congratulated the governor on his victory at the polls while appealing that he ( Governor Oborevwori should ensure only persons of proven characters with enviable track records of excellent achievements in the past are appointed into sensitive positions in the state.
He appealed to the Governor to employ more Urhobo teachers in all schools across primary schools in Delta central, revealing that such development will reactivate and bring to life, the Urhobo language which he claimed is gradually going into extinction.
The President General of Urhobo Rebirth Congress, advised the Governor further to use his good office in appointing an Urhobo person as the Commissioner in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism who could use that vantage position in promoting the Urhobo culture and traditions, assuring that as a group, they will work assiduously with the governor to enable his government attain a lofty height.
He called on the leadership of the Umbrella body of the entire Urhobos Chief Barrister Eseoghene Gams and his executive officers to do all they could in ensuring the total unity and progress of the Urhobos whom he says are already fragmented due to politics.
He appreciated them on the role they played to him during the time fire incident through gas explosion happened in his house which almost killed him. He continued, ” Chief we were told that a new youth wing of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) is in the offing.
Please sir, there are many people who are hell bent on destroying the Urhobo nation. They are everywhere within the Urhobo nation and outside.
This is the reason why you must select men and women that have the Urhobo interest at heart” Ogheneochuko pleaded with the President General to make his choice from men and women of good characters but not from those that have interest for their pockets only, nor evil doers but only those that can work with him to liberate the Urhobo nation from the hands of the oppressors.
