….As Delta APC Stakeholders whitle the chances of ex DSP Ovie Omo-Agege’s ambition of becoming governor in 2027
All Progressive Congress (APC) Stakeholders in Delta State gathered at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba on Sunday (today) passed confidence vote as well as unanimously endorsing the State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the Party’s sole candidate for the 2027 governorship race.
President Bola Tinubu was similarly endorsed for his second term bid while they promised to ensure that he (Tinubu) wins with landslide in Delta.
Political observers view this endorsement of the governor as a well-calculated attempt to finally drown the dream of the former Deputy Senate President (DSP) Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to contest that same seat, which, he has been eyeing.
Addressing the gathering comprising Commissioners, Local Government Council Chairmen, Local Government party Chairmen, and political heavyweights across Delta’s three senatorial districts, Governor Oborevwori dropped a bombshell.
His words: “I want to thank you for the confidence reposed on us and for accepting us as sole candidates in 2027.
The APC is growing stronger by the day because more governors will join us before the end of November.
“President Tinubu is a man who rewards loyalty, commitment, and results.
“In 2027, our votes will be our report card. Those who claim to love the President must show it through the ballot. I won 21 out of 25 local governments in the last election because we worked and stayed loyal. That’s what real commitment means”.
The Governor however warned against disloyalty within the party, stressing that some members who did not work for APC during the last elections had benefited unduly.
“Some in power today didn’t work for the APC, but we know them. When the time comes, we will expose them. This time, loyalty will be rewarded, not hypocrisy”, he emphatically stated.
