Go and rescue detained Binance Executive from Nigeria, US Lawmakers write Biden

By Austin Ogwuda

SIXTEEN members of the United States House of Representatives have called on the United States President, Joe Biden to urgently intervene in the case of Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance Executive currently facing economic crimes-related charges before a Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The Lawmakers claimed that Gambaryan’s legal team had reported to the Federal High Court that he is ā€œvery illā€ and needed urgent medical attention after collapsing during a recent court hearing, upon which the presiding Judge, Justice Emeka Nwite ordered he be transferred to competent hospital.

The Lawmakers in the petition to the US President raised alarm he was yet to be moved to the hospital, stating that ā€œMr. Gambaryan’s health and well-being are in danger and we fear for his life”.

According to Fox Business Correspondent Eleanor Terrett, the Lawmakers urged Biden to transfer Gambaryan’s case to the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, the office that coordinates U.S efforts on overseas hostage-related matters.

The petitioners argued that Gambaryan qualifies as a ā€œU.S. citizen is wrongfully detained by a foreign government”.

ā€œOn behalf of Mr. Gambaryan, his family, and concerned Americans, we, the undersigned, urgently request and strongly encourage the transfer of his case to the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs,ā€ the Congress members wrote in their letter on Tuesday.
