OUTSPOKEN politician and Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the last gubernatorial election in Delta State, Nigeria, Olorogun (Barr) Kenneth Omemavwa Gbagi, FNIM OON, will be committed to mother earth on Friday, the 12th of July 2024.
Gbagi, a former Minister of Education, former Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, renowned Industrialist, Criminologist and a Senior Lawyer died at the age of 62 on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
A statement released immediately after his passing by his Eldest son, Chief Emuoboh Gbagi on behalf of the Gbagi family had said: “It is with profound sadness but gratitude to God, that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother, Olorogun (Barr.) Kenneth Omemavwa Gbagi, FNIM, OON; Former Minister of Education, who departed this life on the 4th of May 2024 at the age of 62.
“We take comfort in the fond memories of his life, his achievements, and the impact he made on the lives of countless individuals and communities.
“We kindly request your thoughts and prayers for our family during this challenging time of loss”.
According to the burial arrangements released by the family as contained in the poster, “There will be Vigil Mass (Service of Songs) on Thursday, 11th of July 2024 at Gbagi Haven, Oginibo Town, Ughelli South local government area of Delta State from 4pm – 6pm.
Funeral Service: Liturgy of the Word, Interment and Reception on Friday, 12th July 2024 from 10am at Gbagi Haven, Oginibo Town, Ughelli South local government area of Delta State”.
Many sympathisers from home and abroad have been paying tributes and eulogies including the two-time Governor of Delta State, Chief Onanefe Ibori and incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
