ALL roads lead to Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria, next tomorrow, Wednesday the 27th of March 2024 for an intellectual discourse on the topic ‘Flight Of Talents: ‘Navigating Nigeria’s Brain Drain Predicament’.
This is the topic for discussion at this year’s Maris Annual Public Service Lecture to be delivered by the first female Professor of Computer Science in Nigeria, Prof. Stella Chinye Chiemeke who is presently, the Vice Chancellor, University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, Delta State.
Delta State Governor Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, are expected to attend the lecture as Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour respectively.
Egg heads have been carefully chosen to give proper perspectives on the topic, proferring solutions likewise.
According to a Press statement signed by the Secretary, Maris Trust Council (MTC), Comrade Fidelis Egugbo made available to The Townhall on Sunday, Freddie Toritseju, an erudite lawyer and a member of the Delta State Taskforce on Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration is among the discussants.
Freddie will be discussing the topic with Dr. Barry Gbe, a financial expert, a renowned law maker, Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi (Ada Anioma ) an educationist, Chief Philomena Ededey Ugheminaye, and a well travelled businessman cum politician, Chief Tony Amaechi while a University don, Kemi Emina, Ph.D will be the Moderator.
The Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology, Hon. Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko will be Chairman of occasion while the acting Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission, Lady Roseline Eno Amioku, will be Mother of the Day and Rev. Fr. John Konyeke, a Catholic Priest, the Father of the Day.
The statement added that “The lecture shall hold on its traditional date of Wednesday of the Holy Week, that is, the Wednesday before Easter Sunday and for this year which is March 27 at its usual venue, Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba at 12 Noon prompt.
“Participants at the lecture are not expected to pay for registration as it is a platform used to proffer solutions to identified societal challenges annually”.
