The degradation of Nigeria’s forest is nearly an eye sour ranging from the dry rain forests to the mangroves, there’s consistent loss of forest cover, which makes restoration actions such a big deal for environmental benefits.
Through the Global Environment Facility funded FOLUR Impact Program led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in Nigeria have kicked off the establishment of nurseries in Calabar and Ore stations of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria.
It was gathered by the Townhall, that the project aims at restoring no less than 18,800 hectares of degraded forest areas across Cross River and Ondo States in the Niger Delta.
Similarly the project is expected to develop integrated landscape systems which will trigger sustainable food systems across the Niger Delta especially on Cocoa and Oil Palm value chains.
