Edo Governor Okpebholo seals victory at Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, dismissing an appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo as lacking in merit.

A five‑member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba unanimously upheld earlier rulings from both the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, concluding that the appellant failed to produce credible or admissible evidence of electoral irregularities, over‑voting, or non‑compliance with the Electoral Act.

Okpebholo secured victory in the September 21, 2024 election with 291,667 votes, defeating Ighodalo of the PDP, who polled 247,274 votes.
