By Austin Ogwuda

DELTA State Police Commissioner, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has presented presented cheques worth Forty-Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Nine Naira (N47,827,529) to twenty-two families of deceased Officers who died while in active service.

The cheques issued to the next of kin of the deceased Officers. The cheques issued on behalf of the IGP are part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes.

The CP who was assisted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration DCP Tokunbo Afolabi, while presenting the cheques noted that the welfare of both serving and late officers is part of the interest of the Inspector General of Police, and it is on his behalf that these cheques were presented to them.

He also appreciated the gesture by the IGP as the cheques will in no small way act as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that though their loved ones are no more, the Force did not forget their sacrifices.
