…. ravages Okpanam, Ibusa, Illah – his home town

Member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah has raised alarm over severe gully erosions ravaging Ibusa, Ogbeozoma New Layout and Amachai area of Okpanam including his home town, Illah where he was forced to abandon his house built there over twenty years ago.

He disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in Asaba on Monday.

His words, “The house I have in Illah, built more than twenty years ago, erosion is eating it up. There is a ravaging gully erosion in that area that can swallow a three-storey building, My house is the last on the slope in that area and is just barely hundred metres from the horrifying gullies and I have abandoned the house.

ā€Deep gullies have swallowed some buildings. My wife said I should get government to come and address the gullies.

ā€œIn several parts of Okpanam”, he went on, “there are gullies but one of them that is being done by NEWMAP. Amachai, Ogbeozoma New Layout, Vanguard area . There are even worse areas. If you go there, behind Talitta, you will be shocked to see the houses people are living, are at the verge of being carved in by gullies. It is ecology.

ā€Thankfully, we are now in the mainstream political party (APC). We can see whether we can access more fund to address all these gullies.

ā€But above all, we need the media to do more advocacy on the dire need to accord priority to tackling the gulliesā€, he stated.
