DELTA State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Joseph Onyibe, the veteran Journalist and Publisher of Ika Voice Newspaper who died at the age of 90.
The Governor who conveyed his condolence message through his Senior Special Assistant on Community Newspapers, Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye described him as “a towering figure in grassroots journalism and a true voice of the people of Ika Nation”.
“Pa Joseph Onyibe was more than a journalist, he was an institution. Through Ika Voice, he brought to light the concerns, aspirations and stories of our people for decades. His passing is not just a loss to the media world, but to Delta State as a whole,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
“May his legacy continue to inspire the next generation of journalists. We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and for comfort to his family in this time of grief”, the statement added.

In a related development, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has expressed shock over the news of the passing of former Clerk of the Assembly, Chief Dan Okenyi.
The Speaker in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Nkem Nwaeke said news of the demise of the former Clerk, who also served as Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development in Delta State was received with profound sadness and wished his soul eternal rest.
“It is with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing of Chief Dan Okenyi, a former Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development.
“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased.
“May the family find solace in cherished memories of their late patriarch and may the Almighty God grant them the strength to navigate this difficult period”, Guwor stated.
