BARELY six months after the Member representing Ughelli North 1 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Matthew Omonade was suspended by the House, citing “gross misconduct”, another Member has come under the hammer.
He is the Member representing Ukwuani Constituency, Hon. Chukudi Dafe, under the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
He was suspended during Wednesday’s plenary for 14 Legislative days over alleged gross misconduct, offence that was not disclosed, similar to when Legislator Matthew Omonade was hammered.
The Motion calling for Dafe’s suspension was moved by the Majority Leader of the House and also Member representing Aniocha North Hon. (Engr.) Emeka Nwaobi which was was seconded by the Chief Whip, Hon. Perkins Umukoro.
It was unanimously adopted when put to vote.
Recall that Matthew Omonade of All Progressives Congress APC was similarly suspended for alleged ‘gross misconduct ‘ without adducing reasons.
It was later discovered by investigative Journalists that Omonade was punished over a Bill he had sponsored but was not listed by the Speaker and later presented as an Executive Bill without his consent which he viewed as intellectual theft.
And for having the audacity to ask why such act took place, he was immediately slammed with suspension which was eventually lifted after he was cajoled to tender apology as only way out of the hook.
