Saint Christopher’s Catholic Church, Onyeobi Way, Cable Point, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria was filled to capacity today (Friday) with retinue of dignitaries from all walks of life who gathered for the Funeral Mass of an Asaba-based political icon, Ogbueshi Henry Ndozi Onyia.
His remains were interred immediately after the service.
Governor Oborevwori was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme. Other dignitaries were the the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, Delta State House of Assembly member representing Oshimili South constituency, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, ‘Mother Government’, Chief Nkem Okwuofu and host of others.
In a Homily, Very Rev. Fr. Ogbueshi Hilary Nwadei, observed that though, death is a bad thing, it is an inevitable end for all men, noting that while security could be provided for several things, such could not be provided over death.
“Have we known God? Have we loved Him by loving our neighbours as ourselves? Have we served God? If you have positive response to the questions, you can make heaven.
“Permit me to talk about Ogbueshi Ndozi Onyia, he was an exceptional human being, a very generous and likeable person, may his soul through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen”, said the priest.
