Apprehension has gripped Deltans especially the political class over what will be the outcome of the final judgment as the Supreme Court delivers judgment tomorrow (Friday) over the last governorship election in the State in which the incumbent governor Sheriff Oborevwori emerged as the winner.
Few hour ago, information filtered in that the Supreme Court has officially communicated Friday, 19th of January 2024 as date to deliver the much awaited judgment.
…. Police beef up security
Already, Police have beefed up security to ward off any violence resulting from tomorrow’s Supreme Court judgment.
Asked to know the level of preparedness of the Delta State police command against tomorrow, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe a deputy Superintendent of Police DSP told the Townhall in a telephone interview that “yes, we are aware of it. We have put in place water tight security to ensure that there’s no untoward development.
I can assure you that the command is on top of it. The area is calm and we will continue to ensure that the area remains calm irrespective of the outcome”.
… Group embarks on fasting and prayer
Meantime, a political support group, which styled itself as Delta State Political Assembly has called on its members across the State to of pray that Governor Sherrif Oborevwori triumph at the Supreme Court judgment being the last hurdle to cross.
Comrade Eriques Warri, in a statement, on behalf of the group said, “No doubt our Governor will come out victorious and stronger, however we must commit the peace of our dear State into the hands of God Almighty through prayers”.
