… as 250 pilgrims, excluding officials from Delta State are set to be airlifted 1st of March
A total of 250 pilgrims, excluding officials are expected to be airlifted to the Holy Land, come Saturday, the 1st of March 2025.
Disclosing this at a one-day orientation seminar held at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Secretariat in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria for the 2024/2025 batch of intending pilgrims on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Senior Apostle Okorote Sylvanus highlighted the significance of this year’s pilgrimage, noting that it marks the first pilgrimage since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and warring nations.
According to him, a total of 250 pilgrims, excluding officials would be airlifted to the Holy Land on March 1st through the Port Harcourt International airport.
Apostle Okorote showered encumions on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the only governor in the South-South region who has fully sponsored pilgrims for the journey.
He read out riot act guiding the journey to the intending pilgrims and sternly warned against any attempt to think of absconding during the trip.
On his part, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, represented by the Commissioner for Bureau of Special Duties, Mr. Etacherure Ejiro Terry advised the intending pilgrims to act as worthy ambassadors of Christ and the State’s MORE Agenda, reminding them to pray for the restoration of the nation’s lost glory and the Church of God.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Delta State Chairman of CAN in Delta State, Rev. Lucky Osagbakhoe as well as the Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Very Rev. Fr. Christopher Ekabo called for good behaviour from the intending pilgrims as they embark on the journey in a manner that brings honor to the State and the Body of Christ in general by shunning all forms of vices.
The seminar, themed ‘Pilgrimage as a Tool for Spiritual Renewal’ featured insightful talks, including an overview of the pilgrimage exercise delivered by Senior Apostle Okorote Sylvanus.
The Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe is the Head of Media, Team Delta Pilgrims 2024/2025.
In an interview with The Townhall he said the intending pilgrims will definitely live up to expectation and remain good ambassadors of the State while thanking the governor for his exceptional leadership qualities and benevolence towards this sponsorship.
