SPEAKER of the Delta State House of Assembly, The Right Honourable Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has commended the security agencies as well as the State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for restoring peace and security in Uwheru community in Ughelli North local government area of the State that has been under siege by herdsmen.
He stated this while reacting to report of the restoration of peace and security in Uwheru during Tuesday’s plenary.
The Speaker thanked security agencies in the State for living up to expectation as well as the State House of Assembly Committee on Legislative Compliance led by the Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowowo, which has been working tirelessly at ensuring that resolutions of the House especially against herdsmen menace were implemented.
His words, “The Delta State House of Assembly welcomes the report of the return of peace and security in Uwheru community that has been under siege by herdsmen.
“I must appreciate His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State for his proactive response to security concerns in the state. I also commend security agencies for their efforts and encourage them to maintain visible presence in the area.
“The State Assembly will continue to work with His Excellency to prioritize safety and security of constituents and all residents in the state”.
The Member representing Ughelli North 2, Hon Spenser Owhofa had on behalf of constituents, thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Speaker and members of the State legislature, security agencies and other stakeholders for tackling farmers-herdsmen clashes in his constituency, particularly Uwheru community.
He reported that his people now leave their homes without the fear of being attacked or harassed by herdsmen while thanking Governor Oborevwori and every other person who played a role in resolving the crisis and restoring peace and security in the locality.
“My constituency, particularly the people of Uwheru kingdom are indeed happy as the development is positively impacting on the socio-economic life of residents”, said the Lawmaker.
