Delta Govt plans to host Media Managers, Spokespersons from South South region during 2026 DELCOM, says Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe

THE Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe says that
“All efforts and resources would be deployed to ensure that key stakeholders and relevant professional bodies are involved in the entire packaging and delivery of DELCOM 2026”.

He stated this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after receiving the award during the closing ceremony of the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM 2025) in Asaba.

His words “I am delighted to be honoured with the Iconic Media Strategist Award. It came to me as a surprise. I am most grateful to the President and members of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management, for this great honour. I respectfully dedicate it to God Almighty.

“I deeply appreciate my working Governor, leader and Boss, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his huge support, and for believing in my ability to deliver on assigned responsibilities. Come 2027, it’s going to be Tinubu-Oborevwori all the way.

“Delta will host South-South Spokespersons, media managers, communication scholars, and working Journalists as DELCOM strategize for her 7th edition”, he added.

Presenting the Award at the closing ceremony of the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM 2025) in Asaba, the State capital, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute, Dr (Mrs) Temile Oritseweyinmi, said Oghenesivbe has demonstrated exceptional skills and professional excellence in strategic communication and media management spanning nearly three decades, and counting.

The Institute noted that the Delta State annual strategic communication workshop designed to sharpen the skills of government spokespersons, political appointees and media Aides to the Governor, is first of its kind in Nigeria, sponsored by a State government, adding that the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management is proud to be associated with the huge success of the 6th edition.

Dr Temile, said DELCOM has become a major brain storming platform for media crisis managers, scholars and communication strategists, Public Relations experts and working Journalists in the state, parading renowned professors of Mass Communication and Journalism as trainers and resources persons in all editions, including Professor Emeritus Raph Akinfeleye, Prof Abigail Ogwezzy Ndisika of the University of Lagos, Prof Joyce Ogwezi of Dennis Osadebay University Asaba, Professor Presley Obukoadata of the Delta State University, Prof Godwin Oboh of Benson Idahosa University Benin, and other iconic scholars and professionals.

The Institute commended Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for prioritizing human capital development, especially in the area of capacity building for civil servants, political appointees, spokespersons and working journalists in the state.

“The Institute of Information and Strategy Management, has found the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, most suited for the “Iconic Media Strategist Award,” one of the highest honours cherished by the Institute.

“Oghenesivbe’s competence and professional expertise in media and information strategy management is glaring through dint of hard work, consistent professional skills development, compliance with professional ethics and due diligence in the discharge of his assigned responsibilities as a public service, and as a minister in the temple of justice.

“He has nurtured DELCOM over the years, improving on its training modules, and quality of resources persons from the first to the 6th edition, and counting. The Institute is very proud to be associated with DELCOM 2025”, she concluded.
