A Bill for an Act to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as Amended to create a new State in the South-South Region of Nigeria to be known as Ogoja State today (Thursday) passed through the Second Reading in the Green Chambers (House of Representatives).
The Bill which was sponsored by Hon. Godwin Offiono and 3 others is seeking to create a new State in the South-South geopolitical zone.
The lawmakers are proposing to alter the 1999 constitution to create Ogoja state from Cross River.
At Thursday plenary, the Bill was voted for when it was put to a voice vote by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas and referred to the Committee on Constitutional Review.
