Consider appointing an Ijaw person as Managing Director of South South Development Commission, Delta Ijaw APC leaders tell President Tinubu

The Delta Ijaw All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders have appealed Mr President to consider Ijaw person as Managing Director, South South Development Commission (SSDC) to equate the appointment deficits confronting Ijaw people.

They made at a meeting on Tuesday held at the residence of High Chief Michael Johnny Warri residence.

The meeting attended by its leadership, local government party chairmen, women leaders discussed critical issues affecting Delta State Ijaw APC family and pledged its determination to continually push for the Managing Director, South South Development Commission for equity sake.

While they unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Joel Onowakpo Thomas and Hon. Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo for second tenure respectively regarding their performances within few Years in office, they also passed vote of confidence on the party structure led by the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, HE Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Delta State Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie and two Local government Party chairmen that were present; Oruma Zagato Patani LGA, Tinaka Kayode Bomadi LGA.

According to them, “We are loyal to the APC State and National Working Committees, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Sen. Godswill Akpabio.

“These are the structure we belong. As Ijaw people, we are not after Ovie-Omo-Agege or Festus Keyamo structure. We are also loyal to the Elder Omeni Sobotie State Working Committee of the APC. We do not have any internal fight among us. There’s no clique between Orubebe or Michael Johnny clique”.

A one minute silence was observed in honour Late Papa EK Clark and Late Party patriot Chief Christopher Porbeni.

The need for purposeful unity among them was emphasised, pointing out that “it is only unity that can afford the party victory come 2027”.
