Motorcycle thief escapes death by whiskers, runs to Church for safety

An unidentified young man escaped death by whiskers as he dashed into a church premises for safety at Agbor, Delta State following mob attack.

He was allegedly caught trying to steal a motorcycle.

Our reporter gathered that the suspected motorcycle thief was about to be set ablaze by the angry mob when he managed to escape to a nearby church for safety.

The incident took place motorcycle along the old Lagos-Asaba Road, Agbor following alarm raised by the owner of the motorcycle.

Expectedly, the people chasing him were prevented from doing further harm to him by the resident pastor and other workers present at that time in the church.

He was however found bleeding profusely as a result of the mob attack.

In another development, a kidnap victim kidnapped at Sapele has been rescued.

According to the Police command’s spokesman Bright Edafe a Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP, “on 17/8/2023 at about 2035 hours, the DPO Oghara police station received information from members of the community that some persons suspected to be kidnappers were sighted in a white Benz GLK with reg. No ABC-448-HC around Ogharake community.

“The DPO Oghara swiftly mobilized and led a team of the Command’s Anti-cult unit alongside the divisional patrol team to the area with the support of community youth and local vigilantes.

“The team”, he went on, “embarked on a serious patrol of the area until about 2150 hours when the policemen sighted the said vehicle and on getting closer to the vehicle, the hoodlums abandoned the car and escaped into the bush. Upon search of the vehicle, the kidnapped victim was rescued and twenty (20) rounds of 7.62 AK-47 live ammunition were recovered.

Investigation revealed that the victim was kidnapped in Sapele at the entrance of his apartment on the same date at about 1900 hours.

The victim has since been reunited with his family while manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing”, said the Police image maker.
