Controversy surrounding the death of the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, Mrs. Shimite Bello Love, nee Nwakalo is yet to be unraveled, just as it is unclear whether the family of the woman would still go ahead with the burial arrangements earlier released.

Recall that The Townhall reported over a month ago that Homicide detectives from Police Force Headquarters have taken over the investigation following a petition written by the woman’s family against the Delta State Police Command, accusing the command of “untidy investigation”.

And that development was confirmed by the Delta Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who said, “Case has been transferred to Force Headquarters”.

The Head of Nwakalor family, Barrister Kimashinor Nwakalor-Imu echoed the transfer of the case to Abuja, stating that “the case involving the murder of Shimite Bello is currently under investigation by the IGP Monitoring Unit.

“The IGP’s Monitoring Unit”, he went on, “has since taken over the case file from Asaba Command as well as a Pharmacist who administered both oral and intravenous to Shitime 24 hours before her death”.

Nwakalor-Imu further alleged that the deceased’s husband is presently on the run saying, “Mr Love is presently on the run from the Police. The Asaba (Delta) Police command who set him free cannot locate him as all his known lines have been switched off”.

Before the case file was taken over by the Force Headquarters and while also awaiting autopsy report, the widely publicised burial schedule surfaced.

According to the burial obsequies, Service of Songs and Night of Tributes was fixed Friday, 20th June, 2025 at Congress Hall, Los Angeles Mall, Ahmadu Bello Way, Kado, Abuja; while on Wednesday, 25th June, Service of Songs and Night of Tributes was scheduled at The Dome Events Center, Asaba, Delta State.

On Thursday, 26th June, 2025, according to the schedule, traditional burial rites commencing at Atakpokwa Front, Okemokuru Quarters, Ebu Kingdom, Oshimili North local government area of Delta State, Nigeria.

Aged 48 years, late Mrs Bello fondly called “Quintessential Queen'”, ”Mama Sabificate” was reported to have died in a controversial circumstance on 21st April 2025.

The question now is: can the burial scheduled to commence in few days time (Friday) still hold?

As at the time of this report, the outcome of investigation from the Force Headquarters yet unknown as they remained silent over the matter.
