MOTHER of a 7- year-old baby, Ifeanyi Joy Isioma Cherish born with an imperforate anus has cried out for financial support to save her daughter from the agonising pains she is currently going through.
Isioma was born on the 1st of June with an imperforate anus.
As a result of disorder right from birth, her father, one Wisdom Efoanimfor, 30 years old was said to have absconded immediately after discovering the situation and reportedly told the wife to throw her into the bush.
Narrating her ordeal, the mother of the girl, Edith told reporters that “I am the mother of the child, the baby’s name is Ifeanyi Joy Isioma Cherish. She was born June 1st, 2017. She is currently seven years old now. She was delivered with an imperforate anus now living with the imperforate anus.
“Immediately the father saw the baby, he said that the baby should be thrown away into the bush, but my sister and I refused because we cannot kill an innocent baby because of her circumstances.
“Since his disappearance, I have not seen him nor has he checked on us till date. The baby because of her situation has not started school till now.
“She was born at Federal Medical Centre Asaba, she had an colostomy surgery on June 2nd to enable her pass feaces through her stomach. Ever since, she has been living with this pathetic condition.
“We take her to Federal Medical Centre for checkups, and since we have not been able to go again due to lack of financial support, the baby was referred to Nnewi Teaching Hospital for corrective surgeries.
“So ever since we have not been able to do the operation. She has been passing out feaces through the stomach since seven years ago after the operation.
“After the surgery, puss gathered in her stomach and they were doing a drainage from the stomach, two times in a month. But as It stand the baby is not complete yet, another surgery is needed but because of finance we have not been able to do anything. She is going through lots of pains.
“As it is I don’t want to lose my baby because I know she is destined for greatness I am appealing to everyone to come to the aid of this innocent baby. No help will be too small.
“The last time we visited the doctor estimated between N10m to N15m because they will do three surgeries by operating the stomach and the anus”, she narrated while sobbing.
